Windows and Doors

We have all windows and doors in, even some final touches on them.  Check out these pics...

French Doors in the Master Bedroom.  Didn't quite fit, so had
to adjust a little.
A perfect fit now!  No wind getting in through this door!!!

Redneck Door Knob... LOL  This merely keeps the door closed
until we get our hardware for all the doors.  Works real well, we're thinking
about keeping this system.
Bay Windows all dressed up!  They have been working on the front
porch all week, looking awesome!!!

We now several small blue boxes all over the house.  The electricians have been working up a storm.  We are going to have great outside lighting as well as all we need inside.  I can't believe how it's coming along, such progress on a daily basis... loving it!!!

Sometimes you only see part of a person,
placing all those wires so we won't see any
of them when they're done.  Great job!!!

Blue boxes full of wires everywhere!

Working on the outside continues.  Today, they finished the siding on all sides of the house.  It looks great.  Started the porch, put up the permanent "Victorian style" poles and the finishing touches.  We're loving how it looks.  Now you can see progress even from the street.  People slow down when they come over the hill and see the house.  I think lots of the neighbors are keeping track of our progress.

Siding being put on the back side of the
house...

Finishing up the back, on to the garage
side then on to the front...
All the siding is done.
The front of the house.  Still waiting for
the trim, which will be white also.

Front porch looking out from the side
of the house

Front porch has our Victorian Style
columns.  We will later add the handrails.  We are planning
on painting the floor of the porch gray and the rest will
be white to accent it.  We will also have dark blue
shutters added to all the windows.  It's looking great!!!

Hope you are all enjoying all of our updates.  There is so much being done every day, it's progressing very quickly now.  We have picked out our flooring and they are coming out on Tuesday to measure so we can get it ordered.  Our kitchen appliances are here, waiting for us to tell them when to deliver.  Kitchen cabinets are being constructed and should be installed pretty soon.  Once they paint and put down the flooring, then we start putting in the appliances.

Enjoy your day!  We are.  I'll keep you all up to date on our progress.  Thanks for being so interested in our project.  Start planning your visit!!!

Evan's first birthday...

Yes, Evan turned ONE on Saturday.  Ben & Shannon had a party for him with lots of relatives.  It was lots of fun watching him eat his cake.  When they ordered the cake from Walmart, they were given an individual cake just for Evan along with the sheet cake they had ordered.  And it was free!!! Walmart does that for a one-year-old birthday cake.  Good time had by all.

The leaves have begun changing color.
A little early this year we are told.

Evan's cakes... ready for the song... Happy
Birthday Evan!!!

Mmmmm!  That's good cake, and it's all mine!!
Bryce enjoying the festivities.  Our step grandson.

I'm getting soooo messy and I'm not in trouble!
I like this whole birthday thing!!!

practicing for the next game.

More Progress

Here we are, more progress.  Roof is completely done, doors are in and today they start the siding.  Here are some pics...

Roof Shingle up close.  It's a dark
charcoal gray with flecks of blue.
Pouring the concrete for garage one
wheel-barrow at a time.

Lots of concrete, it's more work than
I had anticipated.  They did a great
job, it's real smooth and ready
for our vehicles, well except the doors.

Utility Room is framed out.  Washer/Dryer
and access to the crawl-space as
well as the attic.

Garage floor being put it.  It's 4" thick with
two drains built in.

Football game.  They are 3-0 so far... doing great!
Cheerleading Squad!  Raegan is second from the right
in the back row.  She's a great little cheerleader.

Close-up of the window in the front door.
Siding in a box
Front Door from the porch
The materials for our pole-barn.  It will house the tractor,
lawn mower and log-splitter plus our pile of wood
for the fireplace during winters.

The other stuff...

So, other than the house going well, all is good here in PA.  We went to our grandson's first football game.  He was a bit nervous, the field seemed so big to him.  The practice in a field, but this is their first game and it was held at a local high school's football stadium.  He did great and we're very proud of him.  They won the game... 27 to 12!!!  Our granddaughter, his twin, was supposed to be on the field with the cheerleaders, but unfortunately she got into trouble and wasn't allowed to participate.  Hopefully she learned her lesson and will be able to get back to the fun.  Kids!  It's a lot of work to keep them doing good, but worth the effort.  We're proud of our daughter and her husband for doing such a good job of parenting.

Cheerleaders warming up

Cheerleaders lined up and the team running onto the field

He's out there, a bit hard to see, but trust me...

And for those of you who have been wondering what I've been sewing on, here are a couple that I have finished, except borders.  There are others in the works but keep in mind I am working with limited space and actually limited time too.  I need to set up and break down each time I want to sew, which you know I am not used to... I usually just shut the door to the sewing room....LOL.  So, all excuses aside, here are a couple.

And, we found a couple of antique chairs, one rocker, which need to be re-finished and re-upholstered.  I'm hoping Mom will help me with the re-upholstering when she comes to visit.  Boy, have I got a lot for her to do on her visit.  She is so great to volunteer to help with the window coverings and now I'm throwing in an upholstery job!  Thanks Mom!!!

Needs a lot of work, old springs and all...

Rocking Chair... comfy but needs work.

I'll keep posting, as promised.  We're so glad it is going more quickly than it was, we see differences every day.  We're expecting the plumber the end of this week and the electrician next week.  Progress... you gotta love it!!!

Roof is on... Windows are here...

Yes, we have a completed roof!  The shingles are perfect, exactly what we ordered.

Lance, our Contractor.  The roof is coming right along!

Lance and Clint putting on the "eaves".  It's darn steep, no snow
will stay on this roof!!

Roof is coming together and Larry's finishing off by
planting
grass atop the rock wall.
All done, now for the singles!!

So, the singles are next...

Starting at the bottom going up...

They actually went up very fast.
Done!  It looks great!!

Next are the windows, they have arrived...

Bay Windows in the wrapping

OK, you have to turn your head a little
to the left... sorry.

The windows are all in.....

Looking from the inside out...

Getting ready to lift it into place...

Lifting and pushing and making it fit
tight as a glove.  It's like it was made
for the opening... LOL
Here is the view from the craft room.  I'll post pictures from out front bay windows later, I can only get in the way so much... don't want to delay anything...LOL

Craft room's side window and part of the big window.
Things are really moving along well now.  We asked for a realistic date for completion and the contractor said he is still working toward the Thanksgiving Day time-frame.  We have our fingers crossed.
