We planted a much bigger garden this year. We have already decided to down-size next year, we had WAY too much squash. My freezer is full... LOL We planted green beans, lots of tomatoes, collard greens, habanero, jalapeno, cayan and cubanella chilies. We also planted zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, watermelon, and potatoes. We found that there are lots of things working against you when you plant, i.e., bugs! We now know how to take care of aphids and Japanese beetles. Oh well, there's always a lot to learn.

We plowed up our spot. We had a lot of rain, so it was pretty
wet. Took a while to dry out then we added a ditch to help
keep the water from the slope ending up in the garden. That
worked very well. |

We put a fence up and it did well keeping the deer out of the
garden, but little rabbits showed up once in a while. The holes
in the fencing is only 2" x 4", but those small bunnies would
just run and jump through the holes. Didn't think they could
do that. Next year, we will add some chicken wire around
the bottom of the fence.

This little guy was just outside our back door. There are a lot
of rabbits this year, they get real close to the house. They love to
gnaw on grass, weeds, and of course a newly planted garden. |

Here are our tomato plants, collards, onions, chilies. |

Green beans doing well, until the Japanese beetles decided to
move in. We fixed that problem, went on to the next. Lots
of tomatoes, but they're still green. We do enjoy fried green
tomatoes, so that's not so bad. |

Green beans begin to climb! |
|
Tomatoes! We planted lots of plants, I plan on making
quite a bit of salsa and just plain petite diced tomatoes. |
|
Zucchini on the right and summer squash on the left. We planted
two mounds of each, with about 5 plants in each mounds. Our neighbors
are sharing the garden work and enjoying the produce, but it's still
a bit too much. We have given a lot away to other neighbors
because Michelle's freezer and mine are about full. |

Jake is helping do some weeding. The zucchini plants really
flourished. Once they started to die off, they began rowing new
leaves and another round of squash! |
Yes time seems to fly by fast. At times u think how did I do it when I was working. Bet u feel just as busy retired as when working. Lol. Your garden looks awesome. Lucky. Hoping to have mine up and running again, but depends if we're on the road again. What a view from your sewing room. You're getting pretty good at this blogging. Great pics. Seen u soon
